The single knot

Work seven base loops in double knots as before and reverse the work.
The thread coming out of the needle eye around the needle gets wrapped around the needle counterclockwise only once before tightening. Work the entire triangle in single knots.
This triangle consists of single knots only. These single knots can be used for effect, since they are more dainty than the double knots. Pull the needle through the fabric beside the triangle when you're finished.

The first and the last knot of each pattern, as well as every new thread, has to be a double knot though. These don't get loose even on the most slippery nylon thread. The first row attaching the lace to any fabric also is done in double knots for stability's sake.
